Making Bunting

19 Sep

Monday 1st October 2012, 7.30-9.30pm The Park Barn, Horsham

Led by Sarah Chorlton of Bonny Boutique this workshop is ideal for both beginners and more experienced sewers and a perfect project for those who do have a sewing machine to bring or for handsewing for those of you who haven’t got a sewing machine. She will help you to design and make a 1-3m length of bunting using applique techniques and handsewing basic stitches.

Bunting doesn’t have to be in a triangular shape it can be done in circles, semi circles and squares and even made out of paper, vintage scarves and crochet doilies so come inspired! Come and make some christmas bunting or some bunting as christmas presents spelling out a childs name or even birthday bunting. We will have a wide variety of fabrics and trims available for you to be able to complete a 1-3m length of bunting to take away as well as a worksheet so you can do more from home and all for only £10. Please email us on for a booking form.

An illuminating evening – review of the Lampshade Workshop.

11 Sep

At the workshop last monday Michelle Cresswell from Owl & Slipper came along to show us how to make some lampshades to use for either table lights on a stand or on the ceiling as a pendant light. She was taught the traditional way with all the different shapes and took us through each stage step by step and so made the drum lampshades look very easy to make. Her calm and methodical manner ensured that we were all converts to making lampshades as she made us feel supremely confident in our own abilities…

…… I wonder how many times I can blame the children on a broken lampshade just so I get an excuse to make a new one so that my husband doesn’t suspect?

Annely and Kates’ lampshades that they made…. in use.

And Kathy’s which she made out of an old scarf… recycling at its best!

Come and join us for the Making Bunting workshop next month on 1st October, perfect for beginners and the more experienced. Also don’t forget our new FREE craft evenings starting tomorrow night ‘Craft at the Crown’ – hope to see some of you there.

Introducing our new event ‘Craft at The Crown’

6 Sep

Our aim here at Make is to make a positive difference within our community by bringing people together through creative crafting. By sharing ideas, time and resources we have already made a difference here in Horsham since January this year with workshops and craft café evenings.

We’ve now organised a free regular event for those of us short on pennies but still wanting to meet up with like-minded people and to do some crafting together. This is ideal for bring along some knitting, crochet, some hand-sewing to do or to bring along craft books or magazines etc.

All ages are welcome. If you are new do contact us first if you’d like so that we can look out for you or just ask the bar staff who will point you in the right direction. The Crown will be reserving a corner of the pub for us all to sit in.

If you are interested why not come along and join us next Wednesday 12th September and try it out? Don’t worry if you have nothing to bring to do as I am bringing plenty of wool, needles and the patterns for the small bobble hats that we are knitting and crocheting for the Big Knit so come along and have a go. Some of our regulars have offered to help show people how to knit or crochet so come along and take them up on this offer!

COST – FREE (just the cost of a drink or two)
