Beginners Crochet: Making a Crochet Bowl

This is a workshop for total beginners in two parts with the lovely Michelle Cresswell from Owl & Slipper , This is her seventh workshop for us now! She will be showing you how to make a medium sized crochet bowl (height 5cm, diameter at top 13cm). During the first session you will learn the basic stitch technique and start on the bowl. The second session will be about re-enforcing technique and stitches used and then learning the stitches for the edging. You will learn the following during the two sessions:

–         How to comfortably hold the yarn and hook

–         Chain stitch, single crochet, counting stitches, increasing using single crochet. Different edging techniques.

–         How to read a simple crochet pattern

–         Understand yarn weights, tension and gauge and hook sizes.

–         Hopefully leave with a completed bowl.

Crochet starter packs are available from Michelle but must be pre-ordered. This includes a hook, stitch conversion chart, illustrated instructions, a pattern and a ball of 100% cotton yarn and contrast yarn for the stripe from a choice of colours for only £6. She will also be selling the cotton yarn separately for £3 for a ball of 50g.

If you don’t wish to purchase a pack please bring with you a 3.5mm or 4mm sized hook and dk cotton yarn, min 50g ball.

This will only be in very exclusive small groups of 6 people only to ensure that you have Michelle’s undivided attention. We are going for a quality rather than quantity approach to crochet for the total beginners!

Cost: £12 per workshop, so a total of £24

Places : limited to 6 people for the 2 part course

You will need to bring:  If you do not wish to purchase a pack from Michelle you will need to bring the following

–         3.5mm or 4mm sized hook

–         Several balls of cotton yarn

    I came to your workshop for quilting and I believe you are doing another one this year but for 5 weeks, will this course still be on in October. I did speak with you about this as I was leaving last time.

    Sorry not to pester you but I really do not want to miss out on this.

      Hi June, Yes I still have you on my list :). As I said back in July it won’t be until January as this is when we held it this year so details and bookings won’t be up until November time.
